He showed paper copy of the sign
as well as photos to illustrate where the sign would be placed at the corner of Steeple Street and Job's Fishing
Road. David stated they will conform to whatever is required for placement of the sign, including set-back
requirements. He explained the lot is Town owned and that Mashpee Commons has approved the sign. The
proposed sign will be up for 9 to 12 months before having to be changed. Following review,Design Review
Committee asked that the 4 X 4 posts holding the sign be painted the same color as the backboard.
Conclusion: Stamped approved.
Southcape Village
Marshalls signage
AD Art Sign Company
Don Megathlin, Talanian Realty, addressed the Committee stating that January of 2003 the site plan for
Southcape Village was approved and this is the first trip back since then. He explained they are seeking
approval for Marshalls signage. Mr. Megathlin introduced Tom Dunn of Metro Sign&Awning. Tom Dunn
explained that his firm is the installers for AD Art Sign Company. Mr. Dunn began by saying they are
proposing a non-illuminated sign with 4'6"tall letters. Walter Yarosh explained the regulations governing
signage and noted that the proposed sign is over by a small amount...so must be trimmed. Otherwise, they'd
have to go to Board of Appeals since it is over 20 feet. Tom Dunn indicated lighting has not been determined
as far as he is aware. Walter pointed out that the drawing they submitted shows gooseneck lighting, which is
preferable. Walter advised that Applicant has to tell Design Review what they want to do so that the sign
application can be reviewed.
Conclusion: Approved subject to following conditions: Reduce size to 10% maximum of entrance
building area; individual raised letters; gooseneck lighting; and clapboards on back wall to match
building.
