Minutes of Combined Meeting of Mashpee Design Review Committee and Ge Mashpee Plan Review Committee Held Thursday,November 13,2008 Mashpee Town Hall Meeting Room 3 Design Review Members Present: Walter Yarosh, Robert Nelson,Tom O'Hara,and Richard Stevens. Plan Review Members Present: Richard Stevens,Building Inspector Charlie Maintanis,Local Inspector Sheldon Hamblin,Deputy Fire Chief Joe Fellows,Fire Training Officer Catherine Laurent,DPW.Director i Richard Stevens called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. 628 Main Street Applicant—Brad Robinson Redemption Lifestyle Furnishings Light assembly of cabinets that are going To be ordered on-line and assembled in the shop space Brad Robinson appeared and explained he will be doing assembly of cabinets sold on-line and shipped to the buyer. He said he will order the boxes from a company and he will custom assemble the unit. He said he will probably do one unit a month. The unit is 800 square feet. Items discussed included the following; • Mr.Robinson will be in the lower level of the building. • Piping is in the floor and he said if this goes well then he will ask for approval to put a bathroom in. He said the Board of Health approved for him to put a bathroom in the unit. Mr.Robinson said the basement has a community bathroom setup that is available for his use. • Mr.Robinson said he only has enough space to do one unit at a time. No space for storage so he will assemble the unit and immediately deliver it. • The Committee explained the procedure to have signage approved. Tom O'Hara suggested that Mr.Robinson may want to place a blade sign at the rear of the building to help identify where he is located. • Sheldon Hamblin questioned whether or not this business would constitute a change of use. Richard Stevens said he considers this use as a carpenter shop. • Sheldon cautioned Mr.Robinson that he cannot have a construction heater there;Mr.Robinson said he wouldn't be having a construction heater. • Sheldon questioned whether any glue is used. Mr.Robinson responded that he only would use white glue,which is not combustible. Conclusions • Sheldon Hamblin informed applicant that Sheldon wants to know what heating applicant wants to put in before applicant proceeds. • Richard Stevens said he would do a walk-through of the location. • Applicant is to contact Lori,Secretary to the Board of Appeals,to file a request to modify the Special Permit since the original permit was for retail and this carpenter shop will constitute a change of use.
