Personnel Board's <br /> Minutes of July 12, 1982 Page 2 <br /> Salary Recommendation Request for Ptl. Slevin_ <br /> The Board reviewed a recommendation from Chief Frye dated July 1, that Patrolman <br /> Slevin receive the second annual salary of $14,313:19 effective upon the Board's <br /> approval.. The Personnel Board reviewed the file on.Ed Slevin and determined that <br /> he did not have five years experience as a full-time regular police officer prior <br /> to his employment with the Town of Mashpee. Therefore, the second step increase <br /> was not voted for at this time, but the Board did agree that Patrolman Slevin be <br /> granted his second step salary effective on his anniversary date, which is 11/15/82. <br /> Educational. Incentive for Ptl. MacDonald & Heim <br /> The Personnel Board reviewed another request from Chief Frye requesting consideration <br /> for Patrolman MacDonald and Patrolman Heim .to be paid $1200 for the attainment of <br /> their Bachelors Degree. The Board unanimously voted in favor of paying the educa- <br /> tional incentive for Patrolman MacDonald and Patrolman Heim upon receipt of .copies of <br /> their certificates. The incentive is to be paid on their anniversary dates. <br /> Request from Howland Evora <br /> At Mr. Evora's request, the Personnel Board had given prior approval in June for him <br /> -to use his vacation time in lieu of sick time so that his vacation time would not be <br /> lost. Another request was now being made to the Board that Mr. Evora be allowed to <br /> go back on sick time through July 5. The request was approved by the Board. <br /> Mail <br /> A letter from E.Langdon Burwell, M.D., Falmouth Medical Associates dated June 14 re- <br /> garding Varden Kelley was- read into the minutes and will be kept on file.. <br /> • The Board reviewed a letter. dated June 25 from Joe Reardon, Town Counsel, regarding <br /> the Personnel Board's request for advice regarding the police contract. He explained <br /> that he tended to agree with a suggestion from the Executive Secretary in that Michael <br /> Gilman, the Labor Attorney who represents the Town, would be a more appropriate person <br /> to interpret union contract- matters: <br /> A copy of a letter dated July 2 from Chief Frye to Joseph Syluiia regarding the failure <br /> to keep the annual physical, with Dr. Lewis was read into the minutes. <br /> A memo dated July 8 from the Board of Selectmen/Executive Secretary advising the Per- <br /> sonnel Board that James Ames is' no longer employed by the Town as read. The Personnel <br /> Board gave their approval for the secretary to. advertise for the position. <br /> In a memo dated July 9, the. Board of Selectmen decided that request for opinion on <br /> matters dealing with collective bargaining agreements should be forward to Michael <br /> Gilman. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 9:35 p.m. <br /> Respectfully. submitted, <br /> Marilyn Farren <br /> Secretary to Personnel Board <br /> mf <br />
