PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> MEETING OF MARCH 28 , 1988 <br /> I <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for tonight ' s <br /> meeting : Chairman Robert W. Sullivan , Manuel Glickman , C . Ben LofcFie and <br /> Leo Turo . <br /> Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at 6 : 00 p .m . <br /> Special Police Officer_Candidates <br /> The�Personnel Board' met with Chief Frye to review the results of the <br /> psychological test of the candidates- chosen -for consideration of a <br /> Special Police Officer appointment . Raymond Perry and Michael LaCava <br /> passed the psychological test. Brian Lawrence failed to complete the <br /> process and has since. withdrawn his name for consideration .' <br /> The Board also reviewed a letter from Joseph Yukna , a candidate who was <br /> being considered for the full-time permanent appointment but failed to <br /> initially pass the psychological test . Mr . Yukna was granted a retest <br /> with Dr . Barry and passed the second time and now requests the Board to <br /> consider him for a Special Police Officer appointment . <br /> Chief Frye commented that Ray Perry might not have to go onto the Police <br /> Academy as he has had academy training and they might be able to get a <br /> waiver for him . He told the . Board that while Michael LaCava has had no <br /> previous training , he could be put into an in-service training program at <br /> thedaxtment . <br /> With regard to, Joseph ,Yukna , Chief.'.Frye s-aid that he talked it over with <br /> Deputy Chief Cooper -and they had no objection to ' appoi.nt-ing him as a <br /> Special Police Officer'. *# } <br /> Chief Frye asked the Board to consider. giving another test in the near <br /> future . The Board. had, no objection and asked the secretary to start the <br /> advertising and to proceed in ordering the tests . <br /> Interviews for Shellfish Constable <br /> The Hoard interviewed candidates for the ''Shellfish Constable position along <br /> with members of the Shellfish Commission , Vern Thomas and Fred Peters , and <br /> also with the assistance of Dave Ryan the Shellfish Constable as follows : <br /> Christopher McDonough , Paul Somerville , Timothy Dinnan , Duncan York , Bill <br /> Bridges and Joseph Giarrusso , Jr . <br /> Salary and job requirements were reviewed with each candidate . Candidates <br /> were advised that being a Mashpee resident was required . The background <br /> of each candidate was reviewed separately as well as their long-range goals . <br /> Candidates were also advised that the law enforcement aspect is a big part <br /> of the job . They were questionned on experience in writing grants , prepar- <br /> ing budgets and payroll , supervising employees , how the construction of <br /> docks effects shellfish beds and on their familiarity with Chapter 130 . <br />
