h <br /> PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MEETING OF JUNE� 1 2 , 0 989 <br /> The Personnel Board met tonight for the purpose of conducting -business <br /> that came before them . Present were : Chairman Robert Sullivan , Manuel <br /> Glickman and Ben Eofchie . <br /> Also present during the meeting were : Chet Koblinsky, Harbormaster , and <br /> Paul .Somerville, Shellfish Warden . <br /> Meet With Jane Stockbridge. <br /> The Board met Jane Stockbridge , a candidate interested , in serving as a <br /> Personnel Board member. Manny Glickman asked Jane if she had experience <br /> in hiring individuals . Jane replied that she has not had much experience <br /> in hiring ; but that she worked with recruiters . <br /> Chairman Sullivan explained to Mrs . Stockbridge that when an opening oc- <br /> curred on the .Board .he looked for a person in personnel work and that he <br /> contacted Dave Hardy , a former Board member , who declined . Then , he asked <br /> Ed Govoni . Chairman Sullivan said that he'"did not know that she had sub- <br /> mitted her resume to the Selectmen for consideration . He said that he <br /> realized it after Ben Lofchie attended .a Selectman ' s meeting . H.e indicated <br /> that he received a phone call from Terry Hyde-Reed letting him know that <br /> she was interested . <br /> Mrs . Stockbridge asked what the procedure was? The Board indicated that <br /> they felt the- individual should meet with them prior to submitting their <br /> name as that is how things have been done in the past . <br /> Chairman Sullivan said that the person not appointed will not be forgotten . <br /> The Board asked Mrs . Stockbridge to stay for the rest of the meeting while <br /> they interviewed candidates . Mrs . Stockbridge said that she would be happy <br /> to stay for some of the interviews . <br /> Discussion of Waterway Position <br /> The Board discussed the scheduling of hours , work requirements and percentage <br /> of time that candidates would be required to fulfill as Waterway Assistants <br /> with Chet Koblinsky , Harbormaster , and Paul Somerville, Shellfish Warden . <br /> Mr . - Koblinsky told the Board that some of the work is law --- some is Shell- <br /> fish and running a boat-- heavy work picking 'up moorings . He said that <br /> candidates would need to have physical ability and recommended that they <br /> look at each candidate individually . <br /> Chairman Sullivan asked if there was ' any schedule'-"for Shellfishing for these <br /> individuals . Harbormaster Koblinsky said that he'.dees'u,not''have, a schedule ; <br /> however , ne sees it as a 90% job in the Harbormaster -Department and 10% in <br /> Shellfishing . Mr . Koblinsky said that he wants flexibility and wants people <br /> to work at night from 12 : 00 noon to 8 : 00 p .m . He wants no water skiing or <br /> jet skiing . <br /> Interviews of Waterway Assistants <br /> The Board , along with the assistant of Chet Koblinsky and Paul Somerville <br /> interviewed ten -candidates for the position of Waterway Assistants : Peter <br /> Salenius , Christopher McGrath , Thomas Perry , David .Paulson , Laura McLeland , <br /> Gina Park , Adam LaBonte ,. James Chagnon , Jennifer U7rq.:uhart and Lisa Jones . <br /> Qualificationsand job requirements were discussed separately with each appli- <br /> cant . The rate of pay , $8 .48/hrly. and hours were also discussed. Upon <br /> conclusion of the interview process , the Board narrowed down the selection <br /> r , � <br />
