COOMBS SCHOOL <br /> SCHOOL COUNCIL <br /> TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 2011 <br /> 3:OOPM MAIN OFFICE CONFERENCE ROOM <br /> Meeting Call to Order: By Donna Zaeske at 3:1OPM <br /> Attendance: Donna Zaeske, Elaine Pender, Patti Kenny, Deb Greene, Kathy Penney, <br /> Elizabeth Wilber,Liz Vieira,Cara Eaton. <br /> Public Comment: None <br /> Minutes: Approval of VNinutes <br /> Old Business: <br /> • Donna Zaeske and Dan O'Neill attended the District Strategic Planning meeting. <br /> • Kindergarten registrations <br /> • Budget Update—No discussions at this time <br /> • School Web Site—Staff from KCC will be trained how to put information up on <br /> the website. Donna and Elaine think that this will be a great tool for the home- <br /> school connection. <br /> i <br /> • Professional Development Day— Elaine/Teacher: David Dilley gave a <br /> presentation to the KCC teachers. Staff found the workshop helpful for dealing <br /> with behavioral issues in the classroom they also focused on Bullying and Second <br /> Step materials. At this grade level they are focusing on teaching empathy to <br /> students. The staff also reflected on practices of Professional Learning <br /> Communities, focusing on effectively using data to improve student achievement. <br /> • PTO and Food Fest— PTO held a special meeting on March Wh to discuss the <br /> Food Fest. Dan O'Neill will discuss at next Council meeting. St. Patrick's Day <br /> Dance was well attended and enjoyed by all. <br /> • Science Night—The science fair was attended by 800 people. Everyone was <br /> delighted with the event. <br /> New Business: <br /> • Math Night Planning— Each classroom teacher chose a word from the Math <br /> Vocabulary. Each class will make a visual representation of the word posters will <br /> then be displayed throughout the school which will be part of the Scavenger Hunt. <br /> 0 0 <br />
