1
I
QUASHNET RIVER SCHOOL COUNCIL
Minutes 6-3-97
ATTENDEES: E. Bankston C. Russell
L. Doyle A. Shackett
D. Kooker R. Trask
D. McCaffrey J. Cusack
OPEN FORUM: No comments received.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes accepted as printed.
BUDGET DISCUSSION: Budget needs were reviewed for the `98 school year.
There was some discussion about the additional grade K for September.
Several members addressed the need for full time guidance personnel.
New furniture for grade 4 was again revisited as these classes have
Samuel G. Davis issue in the classrooms. The furniture is very old and a
safety hazard. Other needs discussed were: a full-time librarian at the
Quashnet Schools, and the after-school sports program.
GOALS REVIEW/REPORT FOR SCHOOL COMMITTEE: All subcommittees
submitted the portion of the school improvement plan for which they were
responsible. One goal addresses communications at the Quashnet River
School and with the wider community. One goal developed strategies for
identity as a new school ( as with the mural grant project to transform
our school from a middle school to an elementary school environment), the
third goal addresses discipline in the school, and a fourth goal addresses
student achievement.
