" Media Coverage of School Events <br /> Discussed the difficulty in getting school coverage in the Cape Cod Times. Discussed sending home a release for <br /> children to appear in the paper. It will be sent home next week A suggestion was made to use a similar form for <br /> field trips,which could be sent home at the beginning of the school year. Discussed displaying children's work at the <br /> town library and/or post office. <br /> Entry Beautification Update <br /> We need a landscape plan prior to soliciting businesses for donations of shrubs. Also need to know if there will be a <br /> new office entry. Suggested talking to Don Cook of grounds and-airitenance. We would need school committee <br /> approval. <br /> School Survey Update <br /> Sandy Reichel presented a brief summary of the comments on the computer/technology question from the school <br /> survey sent out in June. <br /> 80 out of 128 comments on the survey were regarding techmology <br /> 22 responses(17%)would like to see computers stressed <br /> 9 respondents weren't aware that computers were offered <br /> 11 responses said there was not enough computer training <br /> 13 comments wanted more keyboarding/word processing <br /> 11 responses felt we were behind peers in technical skills, wanted more technical skills taught and less games <br /> 9 responses had to do with increased availability to computers <br /> Presently there is no curriculum for the computer special- However, there is an informal lesson guide. The <br /> curriculum frameworks contain a strand for computer in each subject area_ A suggestion was made to pull out the <br /> computer section from each subject framework A suggestion was also made to write a goal for computer/technology <br /> for this year. <br /> School Lnprovement Plan <br /> Began discussion of the reading goal. Decided on a theme`Blizzard of Books" to increase school libraries. Angela, <br /> Louise, and Sandy will work together on it. <br /> Next meeting Wednesday, December 9,1998_ <br /> Becky Bingham moved to adjourn the meeting. Caroi Russell seconded it.
