Does the wastewater table of 306,000 gpd for I/A systems under Scenario 3 represent both
Popponesset and Waquoit watersheds? Yes:
In response to Mr. Lombardi's comments about DEP and not having categories for more stringent
permitting, the Chair reiterated his preference to use real numbers from existing plants as well as
acquire good information and data on Mr. Lombardi's system before discussing with DEP.
Mr. Eichner closed his presentation with the suggestion that the Commission consider the results of the
scenarios versus the target concentrations. He further noted that some balancing may occur by
increasing nitrogen load that may be allowed to remain in Shoestring Bay and Ockway Bay versus the
Mashpee River. The Chair will distribute copies of the memo and/or the PowerPoint presentation to
anyone expressing interest in the documents.
Status of Stearns& Wheler Tasks:
Presently on hold
Status of Lombardo & Associates Tasks:
Presently on hold
SRF Loan Payments Update:
No new billings
Discussion of Funding Situation:
A request for up to $32,000 was submitted to the Cape Cod Commission for DRI mitigation funds,
which is intended for nitrogen mitigation, and will be used for the potential costs of the archeological
surveys that will be required at discharge sites. The money has been received and 4 sites can be
pursued at the Transfer Station, Ashumet Road, Red Brick Road and New Seabury. The contract has
been signed and the Chair expressed his appreciation to Mr. Cambereri for his assistance. Following
the December meeting, the Chair wishes to speak with Stearns& Wheler regarding the possibility of
moving forward with the Transfer Station site.
Status of Discussions with Mashpee Water District,Selectmen and FinCom:
Mr. Berrelli reported that there have been no additional meetings.
Discussion of Town Meeting Article to Expand Sewer Commission:
The Chair reported that a Town Meeting Warrant Article expanded the Sewer Commission to 7
members to include the 2 members appointed by the Selectmen and the addition of 5 precinct
members. There has been some controversy regarding the legality of the wording of the Warrant
Article. The Sewer Commission has expressed concern that the Board of Selectmen did not discuss
the changes withhe Commission.
October Town Meeting Warrant Article for Renewal of MEP Waquoit Bay Study:
The Town Meeting authorized the funding for the MEP three year Waquoit study which is being
funded jointly with Falmouth.
CCWPC Items:
Ongoing discussions are occurring regarding reorganization.
5
