MINUTES BOARD OF REGISTRARS Mashpee Town Hall-Town Clerk's Office 16 Great Neck Road North Mashpee, MA 02649 Tuesday, March 19,2024 2 P.M.—Town Clerk's Office,Mashpee Town Hall PRESENT Ernest Virgilio, Yvonne Courtney, Deborah Kaye, Judy Mooney,Alexa Hanson CALL TO ORDER: Meeting convened at 2:1OPM Earnest made a motion to convene the meeting. Deb seconded the motion. MINUTES: Unanimous approval of Meeting Minutes from BOR 10-27-2023. Earnest motioned to accept and Alexa seconded the motion. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Reorganize the Board Earnest does not want to be Chairman of the Board of Registrars. Alexis nominated Yvonne for the Chairman seat. Yvonne accepts. Ernest motioned to vote, Yvonne and Alexa seconds the vote The vote was unanimous. 2. The Town Clerk, Deborah Kaye,would like to go before the Select Board to reduce the hours of Voting on the May 11, 2024 to run from 9a.m. through 3p.m. The question was asked to Deborah what her thoughts were on the Vote-by-Mail and In-person Voting? Deborah said that because we are offering all these other option to Voters we should be able to have fewer hours on Election Day. Ernest said that serious consideration should be either In-Person or only by mail,to not offer all the options. He would like to see a reduction in hours allowed to Vote on Election Day. Alexis likes the Mail- in-Ballot option for the voters who can't get to the Polls. Deborah asked if everyone agrees with the Voting hours of 9-3pm? Ernest made a motion to go to the Select Board for a decision. Alexis seconded the motion. A unanimous vote was taken. The reason for the reduction in hours is to try to lower the cost for the Election. One reason of the higher costs is the Police detail at each location. Clickers will be used for all Town Meetings to be able to get actual numbers when a vote is taken and it is anonymous. We will be able to use a service called OmniBallot for out of country voters, disabled individuals and anyone in the Military.
