10 .6. 1 There shall be no temporary or permanent special <br /> promotion signs, banners , streamers or placards <br /> erected, suspended, posted or .affixed in any <br /> manner outdoors or on the exterior of .any building <br /> except for public purposes , except by permit fromthe building inspector , <br /> 10 .6. 2 On each lot in a Commercial or Industrial District <br /> there is permitted one sign affixed to the <br /> exterior of each building for each business <br /> therein . The top edge of each such sign shall be <br /> not higher than the roof ridge of the building, or <br /> the highest point of the roof if no ridge pole , no <br /> higher than the plate of a flat roof . The maximum <br /> area of the sign shall be 5 percent of the area of <br /> the wall upon which the sign is located. In <br /> addition , an identification sign at each building <br /> entrance will be exempted which shall be up to <br /> four ( 4) square feet in aria or 3 - _ en t of the <br /> area of wall upon which the sign is located if <br /> approved by Special Permit by the Board of <br /> Appeals . <br /> 10 .6.3 In an Industrial District one free standing sign <br />° is permitted on each lot , provided that it does <br /> not exceed forty ( 40) square feet in signboard <br /> area., does not exceed five (5) feet in height , and <br /> is located closer than fifty (50) feet to a lot <br /> line . In Commercial Districts one freestanding <br /> sign per road accesspoint <br /> d P _ is permitted. Such <br /> signs may not exceed forty ty ( 40) square feet in <br /> signboard area and may not be closer than twelve <br /> ( 12) feet to any lot line . The top edge of any <br /> such free-standing sign shall be not higher than <br /> twenty-five (25) feet vertical measure above the <br /> average level of the ground between the supports <br /> of each sign . <br /> 10 .6. 4 Advertising signs or other devices of any kind <br /> advertising products or services for sale shall <br /> not be permitted to be affixed to the outside <br /> or inside windows of any structure , so as to be <br /> visible from outside of the structure except that <br /> such signs or devices advertising seasonal <br /> products or sale i tpms may be permitted, but in no <br /> event shall more than ten 10) percent of the area <br /> of the window be covered b:. said sign or device . <br /> 10 .6. 5 No free standing sign shall have signboard area. <br /> Cor display area if no signboard) exceeding the <br /> dimensions allowed under 10— 6 . :3 above , measured <br /> from the tops of the topmost display elements , and <br /> including in such measurements any blank: space <br /> between display elements.
