Article 28 : To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate $5,000 to the Seiler of Weights and Measures Expense Account, Motion to accept as printed. . . .raise and appropriate $5000. Motion carries. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .7:57 P.M. The official 1985 state census showed that Mashpee ex- ceeded 51000 permanent residents. Thus, state law requires the Board of Selectmen to appoint a Sealer of Weights and Measures, a function currently pro- vided through June 30 by the state. The $5, 000 would enable the Selectmen to retain services of an individual experienced in this area and to provide basic equip- . ment. The Sealer certifies the accuracy of all com- mercial weighing and measuring devices and conducts inspections to assure they are used properly.
