Mr. Noonan <br /> seconded the motion <br /> ■ Roll Call: 5 yay 0 nah Motion passed unanimously <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> ➢ Review of Administration and Coordination Draft Sections <br /> o Existing Partnerships and Coordination; Issues and Opportunities <br /> ■ Emphasis on the importance of maintaining good working relationships with <br /> neighboring towns, despite the absence or legally binding coordination <br /> agreements. <br /> ■ Clarification of existing partnerships is essential to accurately represent the <br /> level of collaboration and responsibilities among different entities involved in <br /> shellfish regulation and management. <br /> ■ Term "coordination" should encompass both formal agreements and informal <br /> working relationships to reflect the varying degrees of collaboration that exist <br /> among towns and organizations. <br /> ■ Future discussions may explore the potential for more formalized agreements <br /> to enhance cooperation and resource sharing, particularly in areas of mutual <br /> interest like Waterways management <br /> ■ Conversation highlighted the potential for future collaboration and formalized <br /> agreements, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as resource <br /> management and public access sites. <br /> ■ Addition of scientific community partnerships (WHOI, MBL)to the list: <br /> • Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI)AND Marine <br /> Biological Laboratory (MBL) are key players in marine research and <br /> conservation efforts. <br /> • Collaboration with WHOI and MBL can enhance data collection and <br /> analysis for local environmental assessments. <br /> • Formalizing partnerships with WHOI and MBL can facilitate better <br /> communication and resource sharing for ongoing scientific studies in <br /> the region <br /> ■ Inclusion of Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve partnership <br /> ■ Discussion on revenue generation and funding opportunities <br /> • Exploring partnerships with local businesses and organizations to <br /> create sponsorship opportunities for community events and programs <br /> 2 <br />
