Select Board
Minutes
May 19,2025
The Board discussed a request related to an event, previously approved for one date but now
seeking to extend additional events into June and July. There was some confusion regarding the
applicant’s absence from the meeting. While the group had received prior approval, members
expressed concerns about traffic, especially near the rotary, and preferred applicants be present
to answer questions. Board Member Wyman-Colombo clarified the proposed time for the event
was limited to 12–1 PM, and there were no prior issues with the group’s events. It was
suggested that the Board approve the first date and require the applicant to return for approval
of additional dates.
Motion made by Selectwoman Wyman-Colombo to table this event until further notice.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton.
Vote:5-0. The event is fully funded by local sponsors with no taxpayer
dollars or veteran fees involved. Organizers plan to use the gazebo and garden space,
install 19 lamppost banners—including two veteran banners per post (one male, one
female)—and continue fundraising efforts through local civic organizations. Appreciation
was expressed to Solar Rising, Mashpee Night at the Pops, John’s Pond Village, Cape Cod
5, and Sound Booking for their support. Catherine Laurent and DPW will assist with setup
and installation.
Motion made by Selectman Cotton to approve the Veteran Banner Unveiling Ceremony on
Sunday July 13, 2025, from 1pm-2pm.
Motion seconded by Selectman Richardson.
Vote:5-0.
