SHELLFISH COMMISSION <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> MAY 13, 2025—6:OOPM <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL— 16 GREAT NECK ROAD NORTH <br /> WAQUOIT MEETING ROOM <br /> PRESENT: Chair,Peter Thomas, Co-Chair, Dick Cook, Shellfish Constable, Chris Avis, <br /> Bill Holmes, Dwight Pfundstein, Darryl Christensen <br /> OTHER ATTENDEES: N/A <br /> ABSENT: Jaime Pachico, Buddy Pocknett <br /> CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chair Thomas called the meeting to order in Open Session in <br /> the Waquoit Meeting Room at 6:OOPM. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: None at this time. <br /> MINUTES: Discussion and approval of the April 8, 2025, Shellfish Commission Meeting <br /> minutes. <br /> Chris Avis pointed out a few details to change: <br /> 1. Page 2, Paragraph on Grant Reconfiguration <br /> a. Sentence referencing "planting, watering, fertilizing and managing wind <br /> directions" should be clarified that fertilizing/watering does not apply in the <br /> context, and that navigation is not complicated by the grant's placement. Striping <br /> the sentence regarding "plating" and"efficiency within the channel"; <br /> 2. Correct spelling of"FLUPSY (Floating Upweller System) tank; <br /> a. Correction from"flexing tank pipes"to FLUPSY tank pumps <br /> 3. Changing "wintertime problem"to "wintertime crop". <br /> a. Clarified to "wintertime crop" as it is not a problem but a planned activity <br /> 4. Changing "one was done in conjunction with the county"to "six were done in <br /> conjunction with the county". <br /> a. Correction: From "one"to "six" <br /> 5. Changing that the emphasis is on cleaning the water and that Mr. Avis is guided by the <br /> TMDLs in the different estuaries. <br /> a. Correction of original sentence that stated the emphasis was on "other traits", <br /> while the Constable asserted that the main emphasis is on"cleaning the water" <br /> Chair Thomas entertained the Motion to Accept the Minutes as amended. Mr. Holmes <br /> made the Motion to Accept the Minutes as amended. Mr. Avis seconded.
