Deputies Andro, Bobby, and Rick San Angelo are all actively patrolling, and assistant harbor
masters have been directed to monitor known hot spots and closed areas. He encouraged any
committee members or public observers to report suspicious activity directly to him.
Chair Thomas shared a recent experience at a local shellfish site where he observed Deputy
Tyler interacting with a family. Chair Thomas praised Tyler's professionalism and respectful
demeanor, noting how the family appreciated being educated, not reprimanded. Chair Thomas
stated it was rare to hear compliments in public service and emphasized how these positive
experiences help foster community trust.
The Shellfish Constable agreed, adding that he is working to streamline the shellfish
regulations from 28 pages down to 7 as his goal is to increase compliance by making rules
more readable and easier to understand.
Additional Comments and Observations
Chair Thomas commended the team for their success with rapid oyster growth. He attributed this
to consistent upweller maintenance, especially during high summer temperatures. The Shellfish
Constable confirmed that gear is cleaned every three days, an essential practice when water
temperatures exceed 78°F.
Chair Thomas also reiterated concerns about the Mashpee Neck ramp, noting that eventually
someone will need to take responsibility for the poor construction. He mentioned that in most
projects, a Clerk of the Works is responsible for certifying that construction meets design
specifications and suggested this issue might escalate if accountability is not addressed.
ADDITIONAL TOPICS:
N/A
ADJOURNMENT
MOTION To adjourn.
Motion by: Chris Avis Seconded bv: Daryl Christensen
Vote: The Motion passed unanimously.
Meeting adjourned at 6:23pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gina Gonsalves
Board Secretary
List of Documents:
• Meeting Minutes of May 13, 2025
• Shellfish Constable Report- June 2025
5
