The attorney representing the
development noted that the Conservation Commission had declined to accept open space
under its purview. Commissioners clarified that they generally do not hold Conservation
Restrictions (CRs) for the town; CRs are typically held by non-profits or other entities. In
some cases, the town does hold CRs, often in collaboration with partners such as Fish and
Wildlife, particularly in areas like the Wildlife Refuge. Commissioners confirmed that the
decision not to hold CRs is based on policy and practical considerations, not concerns over
property privacy or nature.
