n <br /> x� 16 Great IVE?ck Road Nart,li. <br /> MASHPEE HISTORICAL COMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting—June 5, 2025 <br /> Mashpee Historical Commission meeting was called to order by Ava at 4:25 pm. <br /> Commissioners Present: Ava Costello, Richard DeSorgher, Brian Hyde, Lenny <br /> Pocknett, and Nancy Soderberg. Rosemary Burns Love and Joan Tavares-Avant were <br /> on the telephone. <br /> Ava set the next MHC meeting date for Thursday, July 24th at 4:OOpm <br /> Commissioner Reports and Updates: <br /> Richard has finished with the 3rd Grade Schoolhouse Tours for this year. He is working <br /> with Pedro Carrisquillo to set up Community Park Tours on Mondays during the summer <br /> months. <br /> All information has been submitted to The Victory Store, the company which prints up <br /> the Veterans Banners which will be on display starting in July until the end of <br /> November. The date for the celebration is Sunday, July 13th <br /> As the MMHS was unable to print the 250th Anniversary booklet, The Ultimate Sacrifice: <br /> Mashpee in the American Revolution, for us, Richard had to get a publishing quote from <br /> an outside printer, New England Reprographics.for$1500. A motion was made to <br /> approve the cost of printing by Brian Hyde, and it was seconded by Rosemary, and <br /> unanimously approved. <br /> Richard informed us of the proposed design of the War Memorial, Phase 2, and his <br /> work that continues researching the names. This memorial will have a water feature. <br /> Ava discussed her continuing work on her signage project. She has an interested friend <br /> who has offered to help with editing of the language for the signs. Ava will some need <br /> help when she sends out her descriptions to note any inaccuracies that may be <br /> included. <br /> Ava discussed the Mill Pond and the restorative work that will need to be done on the <br /> aquaduct. There has been some discussion about filling in the Mill Pond, but Ava feels <br /> that the area has historical significance Lenny discussed the fact that the Mill Pond <br /> used to be a live pond, but now it is dead. He discussed that the surrounding trees <br /> have been cut, causing too much light for the fish and other wildlife to exist. He feels <br /> strongly that filling in the pond will change the ecosystem of the area. Rosemary <br />
