IMP. IMBO
d"fr,,{ynr,fw VhP.
w Mashpee lncCusion and-Diversity Committee
16 Great Weck RoadWorth
'Alashyee, AMA 02649
The next column is written collaboratively by Dan and Max, about Max's story within the
LGBTQ+ group. Tracey Kelly will write on ethnicity and her view from the Tribal perspective.
Lastly, Chair has a friend who will be writing in the upcoming months about race.
In Marie's article, she made a point to note that bias against certain age groups applies to
young people too, from ages 16-22. With that, she would like the three students to write part
two on ageism, from a younger perspective with personal flair.
Family Night: August 6tn
Mr. Klein and Chair Stevenson represented MIDC with a table at National Night Out. The
tablecloth showed off the new logo and looked great. The event was well attended. Chair
Stevenson purchased stickers for takeaways. It was a nice opportunity to start a dialogue. She
would like a list of attendees.
Survey: Are we ready to move forward?
This Committee developed a survey to be distributed to the community. Chair Stevenson
would like to add the question: "Have you read the MIDC column in the Mashpee Enterprise"?
Committee members will have one more chance to provide input or feedback, and Mr.
Kupferman will have a finished product for next meeting.
School Representative
This role has been filled by Trish Hill, Assistant Superintendent. The relationship with the
school has been vital to maintain, and we are so happy to have her with us.
Police Department Representative
Ryan Nardone will be on this Committee representing the Police Department and he is trained
in Civil Rights.
NEW BUSINESS
Election of Chair and Co-Chair
This item will be tabled until a full Committee is present. Marie can only commit to one more
year, if elected. Next year she is 85 and will be traveling more, she might write a book but will
always be willing to help with Race Amity Day. If she is elected for this year, she would feel
much better with the results of the survey, to be able to see what direction to go in. Secondly,
she would like to see a strategic plan developed for the Committee.
Mr. Klein is curious if we are pushing the envelope too far, with the negative connotation that
DEI has on the national level, in regards to the survey.
2
