Mashpee Commons is not
appropriate under Town Information, it's a developer/shopping mall.
Max Nash stated the LGBTQ+ Cape and Islands Gay and Straight Alliance is now referred to
as the Gender Sexuality Alliance. Secondly, WeThrive is the LGBTQ+ ally center for Cape
Cod.
Mr. Kupferman also questioned why Mashpee Commons was under the Town Information
section, it may be an anchor, but it is a private retail space. It was agreed to omit from the
Town Info. column. He also discussed the purple write up on the front page, he would like Ms.
Johnson-Graham to provide her insight around this, but it would seem more appropriate to say,
"and have sustained this territory for more than 10,000 years".
Further discussion ensued regarding the poor timing of these substantial edits, as prior
opportunities were available in previous meetings. Inevitably, the Committee agreed they do
not want to produce something full of errors, as this document reflects the Committee.
Mr. Fand volunteered to work on the edits in their entirety, fix the formatting, and supply a
finished product to the Committee
It was suggested that 500 brochure copies be printed to start.
MOTION:
Ms. Stevenson made a motion to approve the content for the brochure as
amended, and print the final product once edits are completed by Mr. Fand.
Seconded by Mohamad Zefzaf. All in favor.
Race Amity Day Report
Mr. Kupferman stated the Committee raised $3,600 without the Ma Cultural Council grant. It
was well attended with great success. He expressed major thanks to the entire Committee and
subcommittee.
Column
Chair Stevenson will be writing on ageism for the next contribution. She is seeking additional
writers, specifically for LGBTQ+. Ms. Stevenson is looking forward to Tracey Kelly's
submission on ethnicity. Mohamad ZefZaf wrote a beautiful guest column last month.
The Mashpee Enterprise gives $40.00 per column. The money is usually donated back to the
Committee. For example, the MIDC will have a table at Mashpee Night Out, and Chair used
2
