Each harvester is accountable for ensuring their equipment is appropriate, safe, <br /> and used in compliance with local and state regulations. This includes maintaining gear in good <br /> condition, using legal methods, and taking care to avoid damaging shellfish habitats <br /> Consensus and Next Steps <br /> Before closing, the Chairman summarized the group's points of agreement: <br /> • Seek legal clarification regarding aquaculture license transferability under M.G.L. Chapter 130. <br /> • Implement a January 1st renewal date for commercial and aquaculture permits. <br /> • Approve a two-week, $35 recreational permit for short-term visitors. <br /> • Adjust eel harvest limits to 25 per day or 50 per week, with a maximum of three traps. <br /> • Remove all sea scallop references from the regulations. <br /> • Update terminology from "Board of Selectmen" to "Select Board." <br /> • Explore lanyards or waterproof permit holders to enforce visible display. <br /> Constable Avis confirmed he would update the draft regulations accordingly and circulate a revised <br /> version before the next meeting.
