04%k1M {
Town of Mashpee Shellfish Commission
: z 16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee,MA 02649
Constable reported that Mashpee recently hosted 14 AmeriCorps members, providing hands-on training
in splitting stock, shaking oyster bags, cleaning tanks, and quahog thinning. A new AmeriCorps member,
Alanya Krempa from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, will assist the department two days each week
through July 2026.
The Committee also discussed improving public map usability by adding "You Are Here"markers.
Constable Avis explained that all maps are maintained by Town GIS and will be updated.
Finally, Mr. Pfundstein raised significant concerns about the Mashpee Neck boat ramp, which remains in
legal review with no progress reported since July. He cited numerous safety hazards, including incorrect
pitch, leftover pilings, and the flattening of the ramp's lower section. The Committee expressed
frustration about the lack of updates. The Chair agreed to send a formal email to the Director of Natural
Resources, copying the Town Manager, to request transparency, timely updates, and reassurance that
shellfish access will not be disrupted during future repairs.
Before adjourning, the Chair again asked the Committee to keep Bill Holmes in their thoughts during his
medical challenges.
ADJOURNMENT
MOTION To adjourn.
Motion by: Peter Thomas Seconded by: Chris Avis
Vote: The Motion passed unanimously.
Meeting adjourned at 7:15pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gina Gonsalves
Board Secretary
List of Documents:
• Meeting Minutes of October 14, 2025
• Shellfish Constable Report— October 2025
• Condensed and Revised Rules and Regulations—both Recreational and Commercial
4
