Town of Mashpee Sewer Commission t 16 Great Neck Road North Mashpee, MA 02649 • In typical situations without sewering, alum treatments last 10-15 years. With sewering, it may be a one-time solution. Estimated Timeline for Mashpee-Wakeby Cluster System Chair Harris asked Mr. Meader and Mr. Drainville (GHD) for an estimated timeline for the design, construction, and operation of the Mashpee-Wakeby cluster system: • Both estimated that if everything goes well,the system could be operational by 2028. • This estimate is contingent upon: o Securing funding o Completing public outreach o Finalizing site planning and design o Receiving regulatory approvals Additional Notes on Nitrogen Sources It was mentioned that the 17-year cicada emergence may slightly impact nitrogen levels in soil due to the decomposition of large insect populations. Public Correspondence and Resident Concerns Chair Harris acknowledged the administrative support of Karen Leslie,who handles public emails for the Wastewater Department stating that: • The Commission has received email questions from residents, particularly regarding: o Sewer costs o Project timelines o Work occurring on Gunters Lane (echoing concerns raised during public comment earlier in the meeting) • All of these questions are being answered directly, and residents are encouraged to reach out with questions. The town will now be able to hold formal public meetings regarding the Mashpee-Wakeby project, following the Select Board's approval to begin open discussions. WEBSITE Website Updates and Financial Assistance Chair Harris raised final updates related to resident support resources: • The town's website is being updated regularly to include: o A list of licensed utility installers, which grows as more contractors pass exams o Financial assistance application links for multiple programs: ■ USDA Grant/Loan Program ■ Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for which the town has applied for 2026 ■ Aqua Fund Loan Program • These programs offer support not just for sewer connections, but any property improvement needs for eligible residents. • Homeowners can submit applications now through the website.
