Town of Mashpee Sewer Commission <br /> t <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> Meeting Minutes of the Mashpee Sewer Commission <br /> Thursday, July 17, 2025; 2:00 PM <br /> Mashpee Town Hall - Waquoit Meeting Room <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> *In-person and televised meeting* <br /> Present: Chair, Meredith Harris; Vice Chair, Alfred Towle; Commissioners Joseph Lyons, Mohan Nair, <br /> Catherine Castaneda, and Cody Erickson; Wastewater Superintendent, Jared Meader; and Ashley Fisher, <br /> Water Quality Coordinator <br /> Chair Meredith Harris called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. in open session. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. <br /> Chair Harris requested a moment of silence. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Chair Harris requested a review of the June 5, 2025, meeting minutes and any changes or comments to <br /> them. <br /> MOTION:To approve June 5,2025, minutes as amended by changing SFR to SRF. <br /> Motion by:Alfred Towle Seconded by:Joseph Lyons <br /> Vote: Motion passed by unanimous vote. <br /> Chair Harris requested a review of June 18, 2025, meeting minutes and any changes or comments to <br /> them. <br /> MOTION:To approve June 18,2025, minutes. <br /> Motion by:Alfred Towle Seconded by:Catherine Castaneda <br /> Vote: Motion passed by unanimous vote. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Christine Aziz, 36 Gunter Lane, voiced strong concerns about the proposed satellite treatment facility for <br /> the Mashpee Wakeby Pond area, which she learned about only a few days earlier via a paper <br /> notification left at her door. She expressed frustration at the lack of formal communication from the <br /> town and cited the following specific issues: <br /> • The construction proposal was included in GHD's recent update,giving the impression that the <br /> project is already well underway despite minimal local awareness. <br /> • She appreciated a personal apology from Jared Meader(Wastewater Superintendent) for the <br /> lack of prior notice but felt that it did not mitigate the core issue of transparency. <br /> • The proposed access road off Gunters Lane, a residential cul-de-sac with many children, was <br /> seen as a direct threat to neighborhood safety and quality of life. <br /> • She asked for specifics on: <br /> o Who would use the access road and how often? <br /> o How long construction would last? <br /> o Whether a project plan exists and if alternative locations have been evaluated. <br />
