07 Town of Mashpee Sewer Commission sw 16 Great Neck Road North Mashpee, MA 02649 Meeting Minutes of the Mashpee Sewer Commission Wednesday,June 18, 2025; 3:00 PM Mashpee Town Hall -Waquoit Meeting Room 16 Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, MA 02649 *In-person* Present: Chair, Meredith Harris; Clerk, Catherine Castaneda; Commissioners Joseph Lyons and Cody Erickson; Executive Assistant of Department of Wastewater Management, Karyn Leslie. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:12 p.m. in open session. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited followed by a moment of silence. New Business The Chair stated that the main purpose of today's Special meeting was to review, discuss and possibly vote to aquire sewer easements by eminent domain for Contracts 4, 5 and 6 as part of Phase 2 of the Sewer project. Commissioner Lyons raised the question about where the formal request to approve these easements came from. The Chair advised that this request was at the advice of Town Counsel and would be in the recorded minutes from the previous takings that were approved for Contract 3. Ms. Leslie stated that she was present on behalf of the Wastewater Superintendent,Jared Meader, and that on behalf of the Wastewater Department and the Town she recommended that the Sewer Commission approve the requested takings. Mr. Lyons Motioned to approve the vote to acquire sewer easements by eminent domain as submitted. Motion seconded by Ms.Castaneda. The Chair then clarified the Motion as follows: Moved to take by eminent domain, pursuant to G.L.c. 79 and g.L.c.83,§1,for Contracts 4, 5, and 6 for Phase 2 of the Collection System Improvements Project, permanent sewer easements within the private ways and permanent grinder pump station easements and sewer pump station easements on the private properties identified in the Orders of Taking prepared by Town Counsel and shown on the plans referenced therein,and award no damages for said takings, and to execute,and to authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the Sewer Commission the Orders of Takings and any and all other documents necessary or appropriate to effectuate said takings. Mr. Lyons seconded the amended Motion. Motion passed by unanimous consent. Adiournment Motion made by Ms. Castaneda to adjourn at 3:27 p.m. Motion seconded by Catherine Castenda.
