Follow- Dresentation and discussion of oreviousiv submitted Cqpjtal Requests—Various DeDartment <br /> :922f�t�� _1 K <br /> Heads <br /> Fire Department®Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief <br /> Extended Discussion: <br /> • Historical Shifts in Capital Plan: <br /> * Reshuffling between FY26 and FY27 capital plans due to retirement of former Fire Chief <br /> and strategic adjustments. <br /> * $250,000 initially set for communication equipment in FY26 was expedited and covered <br /> in the fall. <br /> * Addition of a deputy vehicle in FY27, citing that the current vehicle (a hybrid used by the <br /> previous Fire Chief) is unsatisfactory for emergency response—reasons include frequent <br /> service/maintenance. <br /> • Communications Upgrades: <br /> o $30,000 requested for in-house radio system improvements for both fire stations to <br /> improve internal communication. <br /> • Capital Funding Sources: <br /> • Significant reliance on ambulance receipts to fund capital purchases, including equipment <br /> and new ambulances. <br /> • Concern discussed about the perpetual funding needs for four firefighter positions after <br /> a grant runs out on June 30, 2026. <br /> • Projection: Ambulance receipts can cover costs for a new ambulance each year and the <br /> four firefighter positions,but may require skipping an ambulance purchase approximately <br /> every fifth year if trends hold. <br />
