Housing and Planning Update <br /> <br />Brian Tobin provided an overview of current planning priorities, including the Housing <br />Production Plan (approved June 2025) and the Local Comprehensive Plan (in <br />development). <br /> <br />Discussion addressed workforce and seasonal housing challenges, housing density <br />considerations, and limitations of current affordability models. Ownership-based housing <br />approaches, including Habitat for Humanity–type models, were noted as effective tools for <br />long-term affordability. <br /> <br />4. Open Space, Conservation, and Land Use <br /> <br />Brian reviewed upcoming work on the Open Space and Recreation Plan and noted <br />opportunities for EDIC participation in future working groups. <br /> <br />Additional discussion included National Wildlife Refuge planning, inclusion of the Native <br />Land Conservancy as a stakeholder, and the Chamber of Commerce’s need for a visible <br />physical presence. <br /> <br />5.
