,yrxrasr.a
Town of Mashpee Community Preservation Committee
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee,MA 02649
MASHPEE HOUSING AUTHORITY HOMEYER VILLAGE
The Executive Director of the Mashpee Housing Authority, Kimberly Conn, appeared before the
Committee to present a request for $222,565 in CPC funding to support exterior rehabilitation work at
Homeyer Village, a 24-unit senior housing complex serving low- and moderate-income senior residents.
Ms. Conn explained that the project addresses the aging condition of the buildings and focuses on
building envelope improvements, including replacement of deteriorated siding, windows, and exterior
doors, to improve energy efficiency, weather resistance, long-term durability, and resident safety and
comfort.
The total cost of the project was described as approximately $1.1 million, with the majority of funding
anticipated from state public housing programs administered through Executive Office of Housing and
Livable Communities (HLC). The CPC request represents the required local contribution needed to
leverage the state funding. Ms. Conn also noted that the Housing Authority is coordinating this work
with a separate state-funded roof replacement project, emphasizing that proper sequencing of roof and
exterior work is critical to ensure the effectiveness of the overall building envelope.
Committee members asked questions regarding proposed materials, durability, fire safety standards, and
the anticipated construction timeline. Members also inquired whether state approvals, funding
commitments, or bid processes could delay the project and how such delays might affect coordination
with the roof replacement. Ms. Conn responded that material selections would be guided by durability,
safety, energy performance, and code compliance, and that the Mashpee Housing Authority is working
closely with state agencies to secure approvals and funding. While acknowledging that state processes
can affect timing, she indicated that the project is positioned to move forward once approvals are in
place and that construction would be coordinated to minimize disruption to residents.
The Committee acknowledged receipt of letters of support from the Affordable Housing Committee and
Mashpee Commons, emphasizing the importance of preserving quality housing for senior residents.
Members stressed the importance of ongoing communication and updates, particularly regarding state
funding status, approvals, bid results, and any changes to scope or schedule. Ms. Conn agreed to keep
the Committee informed as the project progresses.
The Committee concluded that the project presents an important opportunity to leverage CPC funds to
preserve and improve existing affordable housing for seniors, while reiterating the need for continued
transparency and coordination as the work advances.
11»HU,,N,
4
