Ms. Dangle introduced the committee's role and noted that it has been meeting since
July to organize responsibilities, including engagement with Town boards and committees. She
advised that Diane Phillips, representing Ashumet Pond, will serve as the committee's liaison to
the Sewer Commission, and that both she and Ms. Phillips will attend meetings, follow
discussions, and report back to the Ashumet Pond Advisory Committee.
Ms. Dangle explained that the Advisory Committee has been meeting with other Town
committees, including the Environmental Oversight Committee (EOC), and is navigating
regulatory questions related to Innovative/Alternative (I/A) septic systems. These include
whether I/A systems are required for property additions near ponds, whether properties would be
required to connect to sewer once it becomes available, and concerns that I/A systems do not
remove phosphorus. She stated that these issues may be raised with the Select Board, with a
possible request for a regulatory workshop to allow broader discussion.
NEW BUSINESS
• Presentation of Engineer's Recommendations for Sewer Phasing and Possible Vote to
Submit Recommendation to Select Board
Marc Drainville of GHD presented to the commission all proposed updates to the sewer
phasing plan as part of the watershed management plan update, with the intent of reaching
consensus and potentially forwarding a recommendation to the Select Board.
