Cemetery Commission December 11, 2024 Meeting Room, DPW 350 Meetinghouse Road 3:00 P Members Present: Ernest Virilio Charlie Hinckley Others Present: Catherine Laurent, DPW Director eaRhan Jac imowicz, Sr. Administrative Assistant The Commission convened the meeting at 3:00 PM at Mashpee DPW. Cemetery Vandalisy1L/111MRDLr2ggLAg1M1y In order to reduce theft, Catherine with Mashpee DPW will speak with the Mashpee Police Chief about having more patrol cars drive through the cemetery at night. After speaking with other P 's Catherine expressed that she will also speak to Mashpee Police and the Towns IT Department about adding lighting and possibly motion sensor cameras to the cemetery. Lastly, it was shared by all parties that the cemetery has not experienced vandalism but mainly theft which Catherine state that it is imperative for residents to report any theft to the Polio Department so that they may identify a pattern with the thefts. The Commission was in a reeance with the plans to move forward and agreed to follow up in the New Year. EMLME Cerneter I rovements Overgrown trees/shrubs to be maintained throughout cemetery (FY5). The gazebo will need work done such as re-roofing over the winter (FY25). The Commission discussed for FY25/FY26 moving forward with the plans for the expansion of the cemetery (two sections). ,Cemetery x ansion The Commission discussed the expansion plans into the undeveloped land behind the cemetery. Catherine said she will get the plans together prior to their next meeting, The Commission also voiced that there has been an increase in cremation/cola barium burials which Catherine corroborated, The topic of"GreenBurials" carve up and Catherine expressed to the Commission that she will look into other P 's who are doing those type of burials so that it can be discussed at the next meeting, The Commission also inquired about how many sections in the cemetery are full. Catherine said she will get that information as well for the next meeting, All parties agreed to meet in the New Year with Catherine stating she will reach out mid-January, The meeting adjourned at 3:25 P Respectively sub mitto;°° eahan Jacimowicz
