If somebody is having trouble paying their <br /> mortgage this month, there could be helpful tools that redirect someone in the right direction or <br /> who to contact. This Committee could be a resource for help if someone is having trouble <br /> staying in their home. Right now, we don't offer help to anyone, and she would like this <br /> Committee to be a better resource. <br /> Mission Statement Review <br /> The HPP consultant, Alexis Lanzilotta, will be working alongside the Town to see if the Trust <br /> and Affordable Housing Committee are as optimized to best support one another. We will start <br /> with our existing bylaws that describe this Committee's role and the Trust's role. The Chair <br /> printed out the Town Bylaws pertaining to the Affordable Housing Committee, Affordable <br /> Housing Trust, and the CPC. <br /> Mr. Sparkes reviewed the Table of Contents for the Housing chapter of the LCP. The LCP draft <br /> Housing chapter and LCP mission statement is a good place to start. He is interested in <br /> working on this. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Speaker Series <br /> Brian Tobin, Town Planner introduced two distinguished speakers that are here to speak to the <br /> Committee about Affordable Housing in Barnstable County. The two guests this evening are <br /> Renie Hamman, Program Manager for Barnstable County Home Consortium and Erin Perry, <br /> Deputy Director for the Cape Cod Commission. <br /> Barnstable Home Consortium <br /> Renie Hamman introduced herself, she has worked for Barnstable County for 20 years, and <br /> prior to that with a law firm working predominantly on MGL Ch. 40B regulations. <br /> Barnstable County HOME Consortium is the HOME investment partnership program <br /> -15 towns in Barnstable Country (Since 1992 defer to HUD partnerships to receive federal <br /> funds ) <br /> - BCHC is administered by the Department of Human Services. <br /> -The Advisory Council consists of one member from each town along with the Commission's <br /> Affordable Housing Specialist <br /> -These include low-income households, rental, construction of home owning units, <br /> rehabilitation, tenant based rentals, and funds used for creation of rental. <br /> - Currently thye receive $450,000 a year in funds (In 2021 there was a one-time appropriation <br /> of$1.5Million in home funds, to be used for activities tied to the qualifying population of <br /> homelessness) <br /> 2 <br />
