<br />Select Board <br />March 9,2026 <br />Minutes <br /> <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Richardson. <br />Vote: 5-0 Unanimous <br />Roll Call Vote <br />Selectwoman Wyman-Colombo-yes <br />Selectman Weeden-yes <br />Selectman Cotton-yes <br />Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson-yes <br />Selectman Richardson- yes <br />Legislative Update by Senator Dylan Fernandes <br />Senator Hernandez provided a legislative update, noting that this is the second year of the <br />current legislative cycle and highlighting several Cape-specific initiatives. <br /> Senator Hernandez discussed ongoing Cape bridge projects, including public forums with <br />strong community engagement, and reported that work for the Sagamore Bridge is on <br />schedule, though additional funding is still needed for the Bourne Bridge. <br />Senator Hernandez also noted success in securing $4.8 million in last year’s budget to <br />keep the Pocasset mental health facility open and announced the formation of a working <br />group to explore expanding mental health services, particularly as Barnstable County has <br />the highest suicide rate in the Commonwealth. <br /> Housing and seasonal community designations were also discussed, with e?orts <br />underway to ensure Upper Cape towns have access to these options. The Senator <br />highlighted increased local aid and road funding for rural communities like Mashpee, while <br />cautioning that state and federal budget constraints may impact future funding. <br /> Town Manager Rodney Collins thanked the Senator and raised concerns about the <br />reliability of above-ground utilities following recent storms, suggesting that burying power <br />5 <br /> <br /> <br />
