Chair Je?rey Pettengill emphasized that not moving forward could put students
and teachers at risk and noted this is the final phase of a multi-step project.
Concerns were raised that delaying the project could increase costs.
Keith Machado asked about the school’s layout and ventilation, while the Superintendent
described uncomfortable heat conditions in the building. The Superintendent noted that
approximately $3.8 million of the $10 million already committed came from the School
Department and stated the building is used year-round by the community.
Anne Schnader questioned whether the fire suppression portion could be separated, but
the Superintendent explained that since the ceiling must be opened for HVAC work, it is
more e?icient to complete both together.
Motion does not pass 1-4-1.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Je?rey Pettengill, no; Jamie Schuh, yes; Richard Weiner no; Darlene Furbush, no; Keith
Machado, abstention; Anne Schnader, no.
Motion made by Keith Machado to put Article 24 on hold.
3
