FINCOM-Regular Session
March 26,2026

Motion seconded by Anne Schnader.
FINCOM discussed where things stand with the town’s wastewater project and its financial
outlook. Progress is being made, but some key pieces—like billing—still aren’t finalized yet.
An override was also discussed to help stabilize the budget in the short term, with funding
projections laid out for the next few years.
Right now, it’s expected to start o? running a deficit, which could carry into the next fiscal
year and grow overtime. There was mutual agreement that it’s important to avoid relying on
credit or subsidies long term, with the goal of eventually making the system self-su?icient.
There were also questions about what these projections depend on, including whether
future project phases will a?ect financial independence. Some early phases have already
been completed; others are still being considered.
Vote 7-0
Motion passed by unanimous vote.

Article 24
Motion made by Greg McKelvey to remove the hold on Article 24.
Motion seconded by Darlene Furbush.
Motion passed by unanimous consent.

Motion made by Greg McKelvey to recommend Article 24.
Motion seconded by Anne Schnader.

FINCOM discussed whether moving forward with the project is appropriate given the town’s
current financial situation.
Jamie Schuh raised concerns about the town reaching a tipping point, expressing
discomfort with taking on additional costs while residents are already struggling financially.
Dr. Michele Conners (Superintendent of Schools) emphasized that the project is not about
comfort, but about year-round use of the building and the di?iculty of learning in high
temperatures, especially for more sensitive students.
6
