I <br /> Town of Mashpee Conservation Commission <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> Communication Correspondence: (public comment solicited for each update) <br /> None discussed. <br /> Additional Topics: <br /> (Any topics not on the approved agenda must be voted on and placed on the next hearing or quarterly agenda). <br /> Conservation staff reported that a proposed bylaw concerning the Town's three herring runs had been submitted for <br /> consideration at the October 2026 Town Meeting. Staff explained that existing state provisions address herring <br /> harvesting and management responsibilities but provide limited detail. The proposed bylaw would establish additional <br /> local guidance regarding jurisdiction, management, and harvesting rights associated with the Town's herring runs. A <br /> draft of the proposed bylaw would be distributed to the Commission for review. It was noted that the warrant article <br /> deadline was July 10, 2026, and that the proposal would still be subject to the Town's review process. <br /> The Commission discussed items anticipated for the July 9, 2026, meeting, including approval of the June 11, 2026, <br /> meeting minutes,updates from staff, and consideration of an applicant interested in serving on the Commission. It was <br /> noted that review of the prospective commissioner had been postponed due to the length and volume of recent meeting <br /> agendas. <br /> The Commission also discussed providing updates regarding the dock moratorium and a recent legal memorandum from <br /> KP Law. Staff advised that questions regarding the memorandum could be submitted through Conservation staff for <br /> review by legal counsel as part of the ongoing matter, noting the Town's efforts to limit legal expenses. <br /> Discussion followed regarding the Commission's annual reorganization. It was agreed that the reorganization and <br /> election of officers would be placed on the July 23, 2026, agenda to allow full participation by Commission members. <br /> Additional agenda items identified for future discussion included the enforcement order and remediation plan for 14 <br /> Little Neck Lane, as well as a potential time-sensitive Certificate of Compliance request. Staff indicated that additional <br /> information regarding the latter item would be provided prior to the next meeting. <br /> Commission members were encouraged to submit any additional agenda items to staff for inclusion on future meeting <br /> agendas. <br /> (This space is reserved for topics that the Chairman did not reasonably anticipate would be discussed). <br /> 2 <br />
