Select Board
Minutes
May 18,2026

the Quashnet River and Waquoit Bay. It was noted that the original permit for the project was
issued in 1973 and later amended in 2022 through the ZBA process.
Board members discussed concerns over the proposal to utilize 25 individual I/A septic
systems and the potential cumulative environmental impacts associated with the project. It
was noted that the project remains under MEPA review and that neighboring communities,
including Falmouth, have also expressed concerns.
Several members stated support for requiring a small community cluster wastewater
system rather than individual systems in order to better protect surrounding water
resources. Chair Wyman-Colombo noted the Quashnet River is already severely impaired
and that a significant portion of flow enters Waquoit Bay.
Selectman Weeden expressed strong support for stronger environmental protections,
stating that stricter standards should be applied due to the project’s location within the
watershed area.
Board members discussed revising the draft letter language to encourage the Executive
O?ice of Energy and Environmental A?airs (EEA) to apply the strictest environmental
standards possible and require an appropriate cluster wastewater system for the
development.
Motion made by Selectman Weeden to approve the letter with stated amendments.
Motion seconded by Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson.
Vote: 5-0 Unanimous
Roll Call Vote
Selectwoman Wyman-Colombo-yes
Selectman Weeden-yes
Selectman Cotton-yes
Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson-yes
Selectman Richardson-yes
Reorganization of Select Board
19
