�04%k1M { <br /> Town of Mashpee Shellfish Commission <br /> : z 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee,MA 02649 <br /> SHELLFISH COMMISSION <br /> MEETING MINUTES of DULY 7, 2026—6:OOPM <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL— 16 GREAT NECK ROAD NORTH <br /> MEETING ROOM <br /> PRESENT: Chair Peter Thomas, Shellfish Constable Chris Avis, Clerk Darryl Christensen, and <br /> Associate Members Dwight Pfundstein and Jamie Pachico <br /> ABSENT: Vice Chair Richard Cook, Member Bill Holmes and Associate Member Buddy Pocknett <br /> CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chair Thomas called the meeting to order in Open Session in the <br /> Waquoit Meeting Room at 6:01PM. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: None. <br /> MINUTES: Discussion and approval of June 9, 2026, Shellfish Commission Meeting minutes. <br /> MOTION: To approve and accept June 9, 2026, minutes. <br /> Motion by: Darryl Christensen Seconded by: Chris Avis <br /> Vote: The Motion passed unanimously. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> None discussed. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Quiterio Aquaculture Grant: <br /> Update by DNR on recent Select Board meeting and status of the grant <br /> The Commission received an update on the recent Select Board action regarding the Quiterio aquaculture <br /> grant. It was reported that on June 22, 2026, the Select Board unanimously voted to revoke Mr. Quiterio's <br /> grant based on memoranda and citations submitted by the Department. A certified letter notifying Mr. <br /> Quiterio of the revocation was sent the following day. <br /> The Commission was informed that the Department had been in communication with Mr. Quiterio <br /> regarding removal of the aquaculture gear. It was explained that the Massachusetts Division of Marine <br /> Fisheries issued a different permit to allow Ryan to move the gear because it technically remained under <br /> Mr. Quiterio's permit. Most of the floating gear had been moved to Falmouth, with approximately 20 to <br /> 24 floating cages, six of which were empty, remaining to be relocated. Once the gear reached the <br /> Falmouth town line, responsibility for the operation would fall under the Falmouth Shellfish Constable. <br /> Completion of the transfer was anticipated by the end of the week. It was also noted that Mr. Quiterio had <br /> until July 22 to remove the gear and that the work was ahead of schedule. <br /> During discussion, it was confirmed that the aquaculture gear had been sold to another individual and that <br /> the transfer had been approved. <br /> 1 <br />
