Mashpee Planning and Construction Committee Minutes of Meeting Held Tuesday,August 1,2006 Mashpee Town Hall Mee ing Room Committee Members Present: Eugene S argon,h-ving Goldberg,Kevin Sh.ackett,Joe Krait, Steve Cook, and Tricia Parolski x Officio Member). Absent: Janice Mills,and Sheldon Ebert. Invited Participant: Catherine Laurent DPW Eugene S argon,Chairman,called the meeting to order at T-05 p.m. Committee Members Iry Goldberg adVised that Sheldon Gilbert has joined this Committee but was not able to amend tonight. Iry said Shelley just got sworn in this afternoon. Apt)roval of Minutes Iry Goldberg motioned-to accept the minutes of July 10,2006 as presented;Kevin Shackett.seconded this motion;and the motion passed,+with Steve Cook abstaining from the vote. Schedule Special Meeting Catherine distributed draft copy.of Request for Technical Proposal and Price Proposal for Construction Manager Consulting Services and Clerk-of-the-Works for Mashpee Fire Station prepared by the Assistant Town Manager,Rene' Read. The Committee decided to individually read this document and in view of time criticality to hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday,August 15,2006,at 7 p.m. at Town Hall to review and discuss this document. Old Business New_Li�...Discussion was Held for-this Committee to try and have an understanding of what has been done thin far on this project and,in particular,how much money has been raised for the project. Gene Smar on commented that the project would probably be even by money available. Issues and comments discussed included the following: _ . Steve Cook explained that$3.5 Million has been approved to be undertaken by the town;$2.5-Million from state grant,,and the rest of the Million to be raised through fundraising money. 0 Steve said September Vt Friends of the-Library and the Library Building Committee needs to have raised$2501,000,otherwise it looks as though the project to become the responsibility of this Committee. . Steve dhd not know what private grants were applied for or the status of any of the grants. He said the Friends of the Library and the Library Building Cottee were trying to determine the status of the grants. Steve will cheek with David Burton and Melinda Gallant to obtain this information and will forward it to the Committee for review at the August 1. -Special Meeting. Steve suggested that ifthis'project sloes become this on nnittee's responsibility that we invite all parties who worked on the project to come to meetings of tins Committee to inform us on what has been covered so far. He mentioned that Shelley Gilbert will have a lot of information to bring to this Committee since he worked as Chairman of the Libre Building Conunittee and dict a tot of the work. Catherine Laurent suggested that perhaps first the data should be pulled for this Committee to review the project and what has been done and then after the review meet with the groups who have worked on the project. The consensus of the Committee was that this approach made the most sense and that they could review the data prior to theSeptemb r I date and would not be doing anything until after September 1.
