BOX 1109 <br /> �9q^SrAe�Eco"��� MASHPEE, MA 02649 <br /> Finance Committee Minutes <br /> Town Hall <br /> September 13, 1988 <br /> Present: Edward Dolan, Carole Dunivan, Carl Heller and Gerald Sewell <br /> Vern Polka, Town Accountant <br /> Joseph Murphy, Executive Secretary <br /> The Finance Committee meeting commenced at 7 p . m. The first <br /> order of business was to schedule the next two meetings . October <br /> 4th the Finance Committee will meet to review the draft warrant <br /> of the November 14 Special Town Meeting . Also on the 4th the <br /> Fire Chief will be in attendance to discuss fire department articles , <br /> the Assessors will discuss the revaluation process and Doug Boyd <br /> the Building Inspector will discuss the formula for determining the <br /> cost of building permits and the process used to assure that the <br /> cost of the building is accurately reported . The second meeting <br /> scheduled is October 18th , at this time the final draft of the <br /> November 14th warrant will be available . <br /> Joseph Murphy distributed to the Committee a memorandum on <br /> Free Cash . The State Department of Revenue has certified the <br /> free cash as of July 1 , 1988 as $1 , 207 , 894 , the largest in the <br /> town ' s history . The memorandum stated the reasons for the high <br /> level of free cash and suggested consideration of a method of <br /> handling the "windfall . " <br /> The suggestions recommended were as follows . <br /> Transfer to Stabilization $260 , 000 <br /> Free Cash Reserve 200 , 000 ' <br /> New Fire Engine. 100 , 000 <br /> Police Station Architect 30 , 000 <br /> Unpaid Bills 30 , 000 <br /> Moving Exp . — Ridgeway 6 , 400 <br /> Water District 30 , 000 <br /> Senior Center Building 10 , 000 <br /> Other Nov . Special Requests 10 , 000 <br /> Middle School Roof prin/debt iss . -81 , 000 <br /> Truck 13 , 000 <br /> Custodial Assistance 10 ,-am), <br />
