**Av rwn of Mashpee
16 Great Neck Ream North
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
Mashpee-Wakeby .fake Management Committee
Minutes of the Meeting of March 27, 2001
The regular meeting of the Mashpee-Wakeby Lake Management Committee is
called to order by the Vice-chairman William Taylor at 7:30 p.m. In addition to
Mr. Taylor, those members present are Hans Fritschi, George Bingham and Steve
Cadrin. This provided the required quorum.
Also present are Sally Sydala and Edward Sydala.
The Committee would rewrite the first paragraph of the minutes of the meeting
of January 23, 2001 to read as follows: "Since the last committee meeting, Mr.
Taylor reports that Colonel Murray met with the town and reviewed proposed
state regulations for Mashpee-Wakeby Lake. Colonel Murray found no problem
with the proposed regulations, except for Section G and regulating a 9:00 a.m.
starting time for personal watercraft. Section G will be removed. Personal
watercraft operation will be prohibited after 7:00 p.m. or after sunset, whichever
occurs earlier."
Mr. Cadrin has compiled a paper on plume discharge into Mashpee-Wakeby
Pond. Mr. Bingham has compiled a paper on the installation restoration program
for the pond. These two papers, together with the map layout of plumes and
treatment systems, will be attached to the minutes. Mashpee is in a relative safe
zone at the moment from plume discharge.
Several fixed docks were shifted this winter by the movement of thin ice. The
ice is off the pond now and fishing activity is observed. The water level of the
pond is about normal to perhaps lower than normal. Mr. Sydala reports that fish
may have been stocked in the pond this past week, and there is a good flow of
water. Algae bloom on the pond fall within the natural cycle and are kept in
check by herring and mussels.
