y TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> Minutes of Meeting, February 23, .1976, 7a30 p.m. <br /> PRESENTa W.S. Clendenin, C.A. Brown, R.A. Graham, R.A. Maxim, K. Parolski <br /> • Members of the Conservation'Commission were present to discuss its <br /> proposed article for a full-time Conservation Officer. There Was a <br /> presentation by Bob Maxim, as a member of the Commission,,o.f a detailed <br /> job description for tthisi proposed position, as -6111 as' other pertinent <br /> information. A,motion was made, seconded; •a_hd approved by'the Personnel <br /> Board to recommend an-initial employment of a part-time Conservation <br /> Officer averaging at.least 20 hours per week. It was further determined <br /> that the Board would' not %object to. a full time officer, but in light.of <br /> the Town's financial problems at'this time, thii determination would be <br /> left to Town Meeting vote. A rate of pay was established at Grade 11, <br /> step 1 ($3.69 per hour, ,or $3,937.60 yearl.y4based,cn 20 hours per week). <br /> Jerry DePalma was present to discuss the proposed article being <br /> submitted by Park &Recreation Department to hire three men to be <br /> used along with Lansing Pocknett as a maintenance unit servicing all <br /> Town departments. Mr. DePalma presented an outline of monies which <br /> could' possibly be saved for each department.by acceptance of this article. <br /> The employees hired to work on the Ov.tdoor Indian Exhibit (Federal <br /> Grant) will be requested to have physical examinations, cost of which <br /> to be assumed by the Personnel Board. <br /> A certified letter, return receipt requested, will be sent to Mr. <br /> Philip DiIorio, Board of Health, setting an appointment with the Personnel <br /> Board for March 1, 1976 to discuss salary figures for his department for <br /> 1976/77 fiscal year. <br /> A letter will-be-sent to the Board of Assessors stating that the <br /> approved rate of pay for a clerk/typist under the SAP is Grade 4, Step 1, <br /> or $2.64 per hour. It will be noted that this applies either to part-time <br /> or full-time employees. <br /> In answer to a spoken request from Oliver Pocknett, a letter will <br /> be sent to him for information of the Cemetery Commission that the approved <br /> rate .of pay for laborers is $2.76 per hour, Grade;.5, Step 1. <br /> Another letter will go to Mr. Pocknett stating that after inves- <br /> tigation by the'Board of his employment records and monies paid to the <br /> Barnstable County Retirement Association, the Board finds. that his <br /> yearly salaries before 1968 are not of suffioient "amounts to change the <br /> Board's previous decision, basing his full-time employment anniversary with <br /> the Torn on January 1, 1968. (See C.A. Brown's report in 0, Pocknett file). <br /> A letter will be sent to Selectmen stating that the Personnel Board <br /> on February 23, 1976 unanimously adopted a resolution that fringe benefits <br /> would not accrue to employees who are faired for a period of time that does <br /> .not exceed one year.
