•
2
• In addition, as discussed in Note 4, the Mashpee Tribe
initiated a class action suit on August 23, 1976 regarding properties
within the Town of Mashpee. The subsequent judgement entered by the
United States District Court dismissing the action has been appealed
by the Mashpee Tribe. The ultimate outcome of the suit and the
related effect on real estate property taxes cannot presently be
• determined and no provision for any liability. that may result has
been made in the financial statements.
In our opinion, except for the ultimate resolution of the
Mashpee Tribe class action suit presently under appeal discussed in
• the preceding paragraph, the aforementioned financial statements
present fairly the financial position of the various accounts of the
Town of Mashpee of June 30, 1978. The results of operations of
such accounts for the year then ended is in conformity with accounting
practices prescribed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on a basis
• consistent with that of the preceding year.
Respectfully submitted,
CHARLES E.
