departments, state and federal agencies. <br /> However, it is our opinion that once the legal suit presently <br /> r confronting the Town is resolved and the demand for property returns to <br /> that presently experienced by neighboring communities, the increased <br /> growth in population and related impact on municipal departments will <br /> be difficult to effectively and efficiently accommodate with a manual <br /> accounting system even with the current department staff. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> In order to effectively and efficiently accommodate <br /> anticipated future growth, it is our recommendation the Town of Mashpee <br /> consider automating the activities of this department in the near future <br /> This would allow the current accounting staff to: <br /> Minimize the likelihood of adding new <br /> • employees, and related indirect costs. <br /> Continue to prepare timely monthly financial <br /> statements. <br /> Continue to monitor the status of budgetary <br /> and non-budgetary accounts. <br /> Insure compliance with state statutes such as <br /> Chapter 40 1 4B which requires; "The name and <br /> address of every Person whose contract or <br /> contracts with the town involve a cumulative <br /> cost in excess of two thousand dollars during <br /> the fiscal year of said town shall be posted in <br /> the office of the town clerk by the town <br /> accountant of said town.
