7 7-7771 Para. 1, The Board of Selectmen annually, and subsequent to the annual Town Meeting shall appoint a Building Inspector to hold office for K . the term of one year following, and until his successor is appointed and qualified. Para. 2. To be eligible to appointment , the Building Inspector shall be generally informed as to the quality and strength of building- materials , uildingmaterials , the prevailing methods of building construction, good practice in .fire prevention, the accepted requirements for safe facilities , and shall have a general knowledge of the installation of plumbing, electric wiring, elevators and other installations for the safety, comfort and convenience of occupants . He shall be capable of making the necessary examinations and inspections of buildings in the course of construction. He shall not have any interest whatever, directly or indirectly, in the sale or manufacture of any material, process or device entering into or us-ed in or in connection with building construction, an d shall not be engaged in the building trades on his own account or as a contractor. y I� Para. 3 . He shall be under the supervision of the Board of Selectmen and he shall be subject to such rules and regulations as they maNr prescribe for the proper conduct of this office . He shall submit .an annual report µ" in December of each year of his office for publication in the Town Report . =r Para. 4. The person appointed Building Inspector shall receive such salary or compensation as shall be fixed by the Board of Selectmen within the appropriation for the Building Inspector. i Para. 5 . The Building Ipspector shall make inspection of all building operations covered by this code , and he may, for these purposes , enter at all reasonable times upon the premises where such operations are carried on, and shall report to the Board of Selectmen all violations of this code , or of any permit issued. Para. 6 . The Building Inspector in the name of the Town may take measures as public safety requires to carry these by-laws into effect . , Section 11. Fees for permits . Para. 1 . Fees for permits under this shall be paid to the Building Inspector for use of the Town in accordance with the following schedule ; (1) for s ngle , family dwellings with estimated cost riot exceeding `,'5 ,GUO. , $5 .00 and s'1.00 additional for each $1,000 of estimated cost above :5 ,000. (2) for separate garage buildings : singlecar garage , $2 .00 and ','l.00 additional for each additional car space per car:{ " e . ( 3 ) For all comrr;er- cial building, with estimated cost not exceeding 5 ,000: $5 .00, and $1.00 additional for each additional, ';1,000 of estimated. cost above '5 ,GOO- (4) For all other buildings with estimated cost not exceeding $2,000: Y'2.00 and $1.00, additional for each additional $1,000 of estimated cost. above $2,000 . ( 5 ) For all other alterations and repairs with estimated cost not exceeding $1 000: $1.00 and $1.00 additonal for each $1,000 of estimated cost above '1,000.
