MINUTES January 8, 1998 9 BOARD OF HEALTH
Discussion- Transfer Station days of operation
Mr. Doherty stepped down from this matter as he found it to be a conflict of
interest.
Mr. Ball stated, "The Board of Selectmen were upset to learn the landfill/transfer
station is closed two days per week." "They are of the opinion they should have been
notified."
Mr. Cram commented, "In my opinion, they should not have discussed the matter
until they consulted with this Board."
Mr. Ball stated, "I did speak with contractor who relayed that he would agree to
open on Tuesdays however, it would cost the town $1,100.00 a week over and above the
contract price." "Another option is we could open on Tuesdays with a skeleton crew and
allow the disposal of household trash only or we could put a dumpster outside the gate on
that day."
Mr. McQuaid stated, "We posted signs and notified the news media at that time."
"Since the new hours have been in effect we have received only two complaints."
Board members agreed landfill/transfer station hours will remain the same as per
contract.
Being no further business Mr. Cram motioned to adjourn this meeting at 8:45 p.m., Mr.
Ball seconded, all agreed.
Res?ectfully submitted,
Veronica Mayer, Adm. Asst.
%
