MINUTES January 15, 1998 4 BOARD OF HEALTH Mr. Doherty stated, "I would like the health agents to check closely on any work Mr. DeDecko does." Mr. Daniels stated, "The attorney didn't hire the first inspector the real estate company did." Mr. Doherty stated, "I don't have a problem with this because I do know the area and you are up on a hill and you are far enough away from the wetlands." Mr. Doherty motioned to grant a variance from the regulation which requires engineered plans for an increase in habitable space, Mr. Cram seconded, all agreed. *****OLD BUSINESS***** Landfill Hours Mr. McQuaid relayed, "Nancy Caflyn came by questioning landfill hours and the LF4 site." "I informed her that we had discussed the possibility of requesting the landfill contractor to put a roll-off outside the gate." Mr. Doherty commented, "In my opinion, this is the best solution we could come up with barring additional funds." "I don't see additional funds coming so we'll have to leave it alone." Mr. McQuaid stated, "I informed Ms. Caffyn that we haven't received anything in writing from the Selectmen's office addressing this issue and until we do so we will not do anything." "As for the LF4 site, we had the meeting out there Friday with Tom Cahir, I think we going to be able to work it out." "I met with Colonel Jenner and Bob Whritenour yesterday morning." "It's still on track." "We're going to clean it up." "Another comment Ms. Caffyn had was we shouldn't touch the area because then we are assuming responsibility on the part of the town." "Colonel Jenner explained to Bob Whritenour that all we are doing is removing the above surface danger." "Colonel Jenner has agreed to install a fence along the perimeter however, he doesn't have the funds to purchase the materials." Mr. Ball commented, "The Base will cut a road to bring vehicles in." "All wood products will be burned on-site."
