Jean Noussee moved and
Marty Henry seconded the motion that the minutes from the 12/19101 meeting be approved as
submitted. The motion was unanimously carried.
Iry Goldberg, drawing upon the strengths of each individual, has assigned tasks for each
commjttee member. Iry will discuss assignments with each member to en§iire they are in
agreement. Should anyone wish to set up subcommittees to assist with their assigned tasks,
they are encouraged to do so, making sure that Iry is kept informed of any such subcommittees.
A copy of the assignments is attached to these minutes.
Iry provided a packet of information for each committee member, which included the following
items:
1) Conflict of Interest Law
2) Guide to the Open Meeting Law
3) Mashpee Community Facilities Plan
4) Senior Center Activities
5) Mashpee COA Space Needs for Seniors
6) Hyannis, Yarmouth, Middleboro, Duxbury and WestwoodgSenior Center Package
k:
The meeting was then turned over to Tom Fudala, Mashpee Town Planner, for a presentation to
the committee of land sites currently available in Mashpee. Included in those sites were the
following:
1) The 6.1 acre site adjacent to the current Senior Center. Just 4 acres are usable because
of wetlands on this site. New development is permissible up to within 100 ft of the
wetland area without requiring a permit from the Conservation Commission. Existing
buildings could be utilized, parking expanded, as well as a new building constructed for a
new Senior Center. Tom Fudala will do a gross layout to see how it would fit.
2) Mashpee High School site. There has been talk of use of this site for a new community
center. This is a viable site for the Senior Center.
3) Nimitz property at the comer of Lovells Lane and Rt. 130. This site has a large hole and
would be physically very hard to work with.
4) Land behind the Mashpee Town Hall. The Town is looking to save the site for an
additional school when needed, at some future point in time.
5) A 60 acre site fronting on Rt. 28, off Sampsons Mill Road. Currently 113 of this is a well
site for the Mashpee Water District. The town has leased a big chunk of the property for
the VFW. Also the Town is looking at this site for ballfields, as it is good, level land. t
6) Keeler property off Red Brook Road, about 30 acres. Drawback herewould be Iodation—`
it is off the beaten track.
