TOWN OF 14ASHPEE
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
July 23, 1997
The Design Review Committee met at 6:3o p.m. on Wednesday,
July 23,1997 at Mashpee Town Hall, Conference Room One.
Committee Members Present: William Hauck, Ex Officio; Ed Govoni,
Chairman; Mary LeBlanc; and Thomas F. O'Hara.
Absent: Mr. Coffey.
1. Sions - Border Littman & Peooard 800 Falmouth Road
208A Summerfield Park, Route 28
Ms. Patricia Mello proposed an outside sign measuring 16' x 18" on
the second floor of the building located at Summerfield Park. It
was noted any sign over 20 sq. ft. requires a Board of Appeals
approval. The size of 13' x 1.5' was agreed upon, as it will be
within the 20 sq. ft. requirement. Door signage presented no
problems. Names will be listed inside the building.
Colors will be green with gold lettering and a border. There were
no objections to the proposal as revised. Ms. Mello was advised
tostop by the office this week.
2. Sign - Willowbend Purchasing and Receiving, Bowdoin Road
Craig Fleming, Manager of the Willowbend Club proposed a 4' x 3 '
sign, gray background with green lettering, matching the
Willowbend Club colors, and located beside the existing sign as
shown in his photos. In addition, a building sign, under 6 sq.
ft. was requested to be placed on the building's first three units
of the condo.
Members suggested one main sign be designed on which smaller signs
could be displayed. The owner of the property should be
consulted, and the area around the sign should be pruned and
regularly maintained. Each tenant cannot have his/her own sign.
The larger building sign could be up to 20 sq. ft. without
requiring a Board of Appeals approval. The height of 15' to the
top of the sign was agreed upon. A small sign on the outside of
the building met with no resistance from board members. It was
agreed a temporary permit for a reasonable amount of time could be
issued for the proposed sign while a larger, multiple sign, within
the size requirements, is arranged.
