Design Review -2- November 12, 1997
Discussion ensued regarding the signs. It was agreed
that movable and changeable signs 2 ' x 3 ' could be placed
inside glass enclosures (open-and-close plexiglas) attached to
the building and treated to look like windows. Panels and
frames will be painted the darker gray.
The applicants agreed to return with different color chips.
3. Jiffy Lube Facility, 487 Falmouth Road, Route 28
Messrs. Reynolds, Mills and Menendez presented detailed plans
showing a different driveway location from the previous plan.
They had consulted with town and state DPW supervisors, and
this version is the preferred layout. Parking will be along
the right side.
Many additions were added to the new landscaping plan
including 3" caliber:,trees, extended plantings, seeding and
loaming around the perimeter and in front. Three shade trees
in the parking lot will be added. Trees should be to a 6 ft.
minimum and 8 ft. maximum. A site visit will be made. It
was agreed the trees to be taken down will be tagged.
Consideration-will be given to where the wires will be
located. Pitch pine will remain in one area; vegetation
screening will be considered. Arborvitae will be planted
around the trash area.
This plan replaces the brick from the previous plan with a
gray synthetic clapboard on the lower, horizontal portion of
the building. The upper, vertical clapboard will be painted
barn red. Mr. O'Hara said he does not like the vinyl siding,
but prefers a more Cape Cod traditional siding.
The 4 . 4 ' x 5. 8 ' sign will be on chains and set back 5 ' from
the road. Colors will be Cape Cod gray with a red "J" and
gold lettering. It was suggested Stella-de-oro or green
shrubbery be planted under the sign.
Mr. O'Hara reiterated his strong opposition to vinyl siding
and cautioned about setting a precedent. It' s plastic, he
said, and Cape Cod is natural and should be preserved.
Ms. LeBlanc deferred to the Chairman. Mr. Govoni said he
would like to see a sample of the vinyl siding to be used.
The plan was given to Mr. Hauck.
Meeting adjourned at 7 : 45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Jane A. Pierce,
Recording Secretary
