TOWIV OF MASHPEE
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
August 14 , 1996
The Design Review Committee met at 5 : 00 p.m, on Wednesday ,
August 14 , 1996 at. the Senior Center on Great Neck Road .
Present : William Hauck , Tony Ferragamo and Ed Govoni .
Sandlewood - Great Neck Road, South - Mr . Albert Valentino
requested permission to install a double-faced duplicate 18"
x 8 ' sign, with 1 " x 8" letters . The current sign faces one
direction. Vehicles travelling in the opposite direction
cannot see it . Many travellers go by it , then stop to turn
around . Mr . Ferragamo suggested an additional sign would
enhance public safety . Mr . Valentino was advised to obtain
a special permit from the Board of Appeals . This Committee
approved the double-faced sign, and granted a three-month
approval .
Cook' s Restaurant - Ryan' s Way and Great Neck Road North -
Ira and Andrew Singer . Preliminary plans were reviewed
showing arborvitae plants along the entire northern
boundary . Existing vegetation will be maintained in some
areas , and smaller shrub planting will be temporarily
postponed . The "Entrance" sign will be inside the property
line . This plan was before the Selectmen and postponed to
the 26th, pending Design Review input .
The consensus was there would be no problem if the size and
location were the same as the 99 Restaurant' s .
It was suggested the dumpster be blocked with arborvitae or
a decorative fence . Visibility of the dumpster from the
second floor of the medical building was a concern.
Lighting will be bronze colored, intensity will be 10% below
neighbors , and poles will be 20 ft . high. Mr. Hauck
requested one final set of all plans .
Honey Dew Donuts - Cape Drive and Falmouth Road -
Mr . Steve Kyros proposed one larger sign in exchange for two
smaller signs . The plan showed a 40 sq. ft sign, plus two
1 ft . smaller signs designed to accommodate future tenants .
The total area of approximately 50 sq, ft . would require a
variance . Height is anticipated to be 25 ft .
